Welcome to Reynolds Poetry

If you are here it is likely because you have become part of one of our Random Acts of Poetry days.  Thank you for visiting our blog.

This blog is a way for our students to see the effect that their positive actions have on our greater community.  We invite you to leave a comment to share any thoughts, feelings, or ideas that you may have had upon receiving your poem.  Here is one from a our Random Acts of Poetry day in October 2009.

Yes, I was "poemed" today. "Why do I Love" You, Sir by Emily Dickinson. You have know idea what this meant to me. My week started out on Monday with a close friend being happy and jolly one moment and laying in a coma the next after suffering a brain hemorrhage and having to undergo two brain surgeries. We are still hoping and believing he will wake up soon. I was in tears again, just like I have been all week, when I found your poem on my car window. The poem although very beautiful is very difficult to understand and I have had to read it over several times. I think it means to me that love is often silent, we live with it around us everyday but do not realize it until it kind of hits you in the face or blind sides you. My friend, who fell sick, and I had been at odds over different things the past few weeks and now when he is unable to be here, I realize the love is stronger than the hate.

You have made my day grade 11 Flex, I will pass the poem on because I can only hope it will be as meaningful for somebody else. Have a lovely Thanks Giving and be thankful for life and love.

Marie

If you could please leave the name of your poem and any thoughts or feelings you had about it, it would mean a lot to us.  Also, please feel free to visit notjustaslam.blogspot.com to read and watch Reynolds students performing poetry.

Thank you again and we hope that the you pass along the poem and continue the random acts of poetry.

Sincerely,
